Abstract

Justification: More than three decades after the establishment of a series of international agreements signed by the Latin American and Caribbean States, violence against women continues to be highly prevalent and its incidence shows even subtle aspects that cannot be controlled, however, without diminishing the individual and community impact on the victims of violence. The legal systems in Mexico and Honduras require the coordination of various sectors in the identification, attention, protection and eradication of violence against women. Objective: To identify elements that postulate the importance of the interrelation between the health sector and forensic sciences for the eradication of violence against women. Methodology: A narrative review was carried out through an infographic search from three decades to date using the keywords: Women, Violence, Health Sector, Forensic Sciences and their combinations. The legal regulations for the interrelation of different sectors in Mexico and Honduras regarding violence against women were identified. Results: Mexico and Honduras are among the Latin American and Caribbean countries with the highest incidence of violence against women. The legal framework for the interrelation of different sectors in Mexico and Honduras on violence against women was identified. Conclusion: Despite the importance of the health and forensic science sectors in the identification and documentation of indicators that allow for the prevention, care and protection of women, it is necessary to systematize the collaboration between both sectors to help eradicate violence against women, which is so prevalent in these countries. The interrelation between the two should be taken into account as a strategy in the postulation of plans and programs, as well as public policies for the attention and eradication of violence against women.
