Abstract

Tinea on the face is commonly caused by dermatophytes, such as Trichophyton rubrum and Microsporum canis. Specific data on the total number of cases of facial tinea caused by Nannizzia gypsea is not available, as the information is limited and based on isolated case reports. This highlights the importance of reporting this case, in which, upon performing a culture, the colony characteristics identified Nannizzia gypsea as the causative agent of tinea on the face in an 8-year-old patient.
