Digital Media Observatory: a connection between the academy and the media

This essay presents the work of the Digital Media
Observatory of Nicaragua in its desire to connect
academia with the social media of the country.
The objective is to systematize the experiences
through the activities that have been developed in
the framework of the observatory to respond to the
needs faced by journalists and communicators at the
national level. The methodology through which the
text is constructed is the process of systematization
and critical interpretation of the experience of the
observatory, as well as the review of literature for the
description of some data that lead to the discussion
of the central theme. The main results of this essay
synthesize the different activities related to the
work carried out by the observatory through which
satisfactory effects have been obtained in favor of the
strengthening of the academic formation of national
journalists and communicators. In this context, there
is confidence in the fulfillment of the purposes of
connecting the knowledge of the academy with the
needs of journalists with a social awareness towards
change.
