Abstract

The sustainable use of natural resources includes various activities that involve both tourists and the population of a given place. The objective of this study is to design a descriptive graphic proposal for tourist circuits in Playa Gigante and Playa Amarillo as a promotion strategy for these natural sites and as part of strengthening the socioeconomic development and territorial and cultural identity of the municipality of Tola. The study was carried out in the community Gigante (Playa Gigante) and Tambo (Playa Amarillo) in the municipality of Tola in Rivas, Nicaragua. The work was divided into three stages: 1) planning, 2) information collection in the field and 3) information processing and analysis. A workshop was developed implementing participatory tools to carry out a tourism diagnosis of the Gigante community; Through a rapid ecological assessment, thirty-two species of flora, nineteen species of birds and two of mammals were recorded, which were classified according to the red list of the International Union for Conservation of Nature, appendices of the Convention on Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora and national bans; Potential natural sites for tourism were also determined, georeferenced and interpretive stations named. Six categories of natural sites were identified, which are: lotic waters (continuously moving waters) such as: ravines and estuaries, coastal coasts, cliffs, insular lands: islets, a place for hunting and fishing, and a place for observing wild flora and fauna. Two illustrative maps were prepared with their stations, determining the total time and distance of the routes and possible interpretive activities for each station. As interpretive material, fifty-one descriptive sheets of the wild flora and fauna species were designed, which served as input to create a catalog of the place.
