A research study was conducted to evaluate the effect of yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae cell wall (YCW-Glucan) as prebiotic on body weight, carcass weight, carcass performance and morphometry of the gastrointestinal tract of broilers chicken (Cobb 500). A total of 210 one day old broilers chicken were used in a Completely Randomized Design and with three treatments T1: concentrate (C), T2: C + 0.05% YCW-Glucan y T3: C + 0.10% YCW-Glucan with seven repetitions of 10 birds each one. The results showed that broilers fed T3 (concentrate + 0.10% YCW-Glucan) attained the greater (P<0.05%) gizzard (67.9 g and 3.4%), hepatic (76.9 g and 3.8%) and small intestine (88.4 and 4.4%) weights, at 42 days of age, than broilers chicken fed T1 and T2. In conclusion, addition of Saccharomyces cerevisiae cel wall (YCW-Glucan) at level of 0.10% in the concentrate is a promising prebiotic alternative in broilers chicken production because increase nutrients utilization and improve the productive performance of broilers chicken (body weight, carcass weight and carcass performance).
