The objective of this work is to describe and analyze the experience of using the results of the Education Quality Assessment System (SECE) in terms of improving the educational system, seeking the solution to the problems that are detected from the System of Methodological Work (STM) in Basic Education. The development of the essay is divided into two parts: the first, makes a theoretical analysis of the definitions and functions of both systems in the current Cuban school and; the second, describes the experience implemented in the province of Pinar del Río to treat the weaknesses evidenced by the studies carried out by the SECE, in any context and element of knowledge. Through the STM, the information - provided by managers and advisers - about the specific training needs or demonstration activities that improve the performance of a teacher, institution, municipality or province is promoted.
