The development of a culture of scientific research continues to be a pressing need in the Salvadoran educational system. Updating the teaching and learning methodology is an important factor for students to develop thinking
critical and creative to outline the purposeful citizen guarantor of development. The current Higher Education Law (LES) promotes the development of research in all its forms and defines research as: "Research is the systematic search and
analysis of new knowledge to enrich the scientific, social and environmental reality, as well as to face the adverse effects of Climate Change» (Art.3, LES).
