Abstract

The present quantitative, non-experimental, transversal, descriptive and correlation design
investigation, with a probabilistic sampling by clusters, was carried out in San Pedro Sula, Cortés, Honduras, where 437 students from bilingual schools were surveyed using the scale of thoughts and Self-injurious behaviors (EPCA). Of the total number of students evaluated, 141 students reported that they had once thought about hurting themselves, but without intending to die, 120 of them reported that they had heart themselves sometime, without intention of committing suicide, 40 were evaluated individually with the M.I.N.I. Kid, after the authorization of their parents, because they were minors. It was concluded that non-suicidal self-injury is not a disorder in itself, but is associated with different mental disorders, such as hypomanic episode (42.5%), defiant negativist disorder (27.5%), obsessive compulsive disorder (25%) Anxiety disorder with combined hyperactivity (17.5%), generalized anxiety disorder (17.5%), current dysthymic disorder (15%), social phobia (15%), (12.5%), current specific phobia (12.5%), agoraphobia current disorder (7.5%), current agorophobia with no history of anguish disorder (7.5%), disorder (12.5%), posttraumatic stress disorder (5%), current alcohol dependence (5%), current bulimia nervosa (5%), drug dependency (2.5%), Tourrette disorder (2.5% ) And chronic motor tic disorder (2.5%).
