Faculty of Space Sciences: 15 years of contributions to Science from Honduras

This article offers a brief review of the history of the Faculty of Space Sciences, which in 2024 celebrates its 15th anniversary of having been created by the initiative of professionals in the fields of Astronomy, Astrophysics, Cultural Astronomy, and Geographic Science and Information Technologies. Over the years professionals from Aeronautical Sciences have also joined this project with very good success. All of them work with the common goal of contributing to the development of their disciplines by growing their bodies of knowledge with innovative research work, its appropriate dissemination to Honduran society thanks to outreach projects that involve the main actors of Honduran society and through of the training of new professionals, who will have the task of continuing with this work. A documentary compilation is made of its achievements throughout its existence, recorded in official documents of the National Autonomous University of Honduras (UNAH), the institution to which the faculty belongs, and the challenges that must be overcome to achieve the goal of remaining current in the disciplinary fields involved, emerging as one of the UNAH faculties with the greatest projection and impact in Honduran society.
