Mitigation strategies for pine bark beetle attack in Honduras Period 2014 - 2016

The study was framed in the “Plan of Action for the Control of the Pine Beetle Plague” which aims at the effective control of the pest at national level, with the active participation of all actors in the forest sector which, in turn, the Plan was framed in the National Forest Emergency declared by the Government of Honduras through the Executive Agreement 051-2015. A key part of the Plan was the integration of actors in the forestry sector, protected areas and wildlife and the control and monitoring actions that were two of the main aspects of the implementation of the unit, plus the management of financial resources for control and monitoring activities, implementation of communication strategies, training and dissemination of everything concerning the impact of the pest. Initially, a preliminary diagnostic phase was carried out to identify the state of the components in the Institute of Forest Conservation ICF, the capacities of the different actors to deal with the plague crisis and the installed human capacity. Having all this clear, we proceeded to the elaboration of methodologies and instruments which would regulate, the generation of information. Already in progress the actions were made deeper analyzes of the experiences in the field, evaluatingpractices and experiences of the actors, methods and teams of work that gave good results.
