Abstract

In the first part of this document a tour is done by Galileo Galilei's life and his fight from his first observations by the telescope, in favour of the Copernican system. This fight culminates in his process in hands of the Inquisition, the condemnation of his ideas and the obliged abjuration of the same ones. In the second part there are gathered some Galileo Galilei's texts that reflect his way of discuss the problems related to his discoveries and to the debates that they provoked for the astronomy of his time. 2009 has been designated by United Nations as International Year of the Astronomy, at the suggestion of the Astronomic International Union and UNESCO. In this context of celebrating the 400 years since Galileo turned his telescope to the sky, falls this work.
