Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • El envío no ha sido publicado previamente ni se ha sometido a consideración por ninguna otra revista (o se ha proporcionado una explicación al respecto en los Comentarios al editor/a).
  • El archivo de envío está en formato OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF o WordPerfect.
  • Siempre que sea posible, se proporcionan direcciones URL para las referencias.
  • El texto tiene interlineado sencillo; 12 puntos de tamaño de fuente; se utiliza cursiva en lugar de subrayado (excepto en las direcciones URL); y todas las ilustraciones, figuras y tablas se encuentran colocadas en los lugares del texto apropiados, en vez de al final.
  • El texto se adhiere a los requisitos estilísticos y biliográficos resumidos en las Directrices del autor/a, que aparecen en Acerca de la revista.
  • Si se envía a una sección evaluada por pares de la revista, deben seguirse las instrucciones en Asegurar una evaluación anónima.

Author Guidelines

Diá-logos, the journal of education of Universidad Don Bosco, publishes the following types of papers: empirical studies, academic articles, case studies (successful educational experience), conference, and reviews (book or methodological reviews). The guidelines on how to write those papers are presented here:

1. Academic article or essay:

The article or essay must include the following parts and in that order:

Title

Authors’ full names

Authors’ identification: degree and area of expertise, position and institution.

Abstract: Abstract in Spanish and English, no longer than 100 words.

Keywords: no more than five.

Introduction

Development of the article: including the different parts (titles and subtitles). In-text citations must use APA

Conclusion

References: using APA

2. Empirical article

Title

Authors’ full names

Authors’ identification: degree and area of expertise, position and institution.

Abstract: Abstract in Spanish no longer than 100 words.

Keywords: no more than five.

Introduction: it includes three parts: (1) description of the problem being studied. (2) Theoretical framework that poses the theoretical perspectives and concepts that explain the frames the study. (3) Purpose or hypothesis that leads the research.

Method: description of methods, research design, sampling, procedures, instruments used to collect, process and interpret data.

Results: Findings of the study.

Discussion: Discussion of results, bringing out empirical value, implications, generalizations.

References: In-text citations and must use APA.

3. Case study (successful educational experience)

A case study describes, analyzes and displays only a successful educational or teaching experience. Its parts are:

Title

Authors’ full names

Authors’ identification: degree and area of expertise, position and institution.

Abstract: Abstract in Spanish no longer than 100 words.

Keywords: no more than five.

Introduction

Description of the experience: It describes and locates the experience in terms of time and place, scope and limits. It also includes people involved in the process, objectives and goals of the experience. Besides, it includes a justification, explaining reasons why the experience was important and necessary to carry out.

Method: It explains how the experience was carried out, procedures, methods, phases, and actions taken in order to accomplish the project or experience.

Achievements: this is the part that brings out the benefits, impact and achievement with regard to the objectives. It qualifies and quantifies the findings. This is the part that explains with data and graphs how and to what extent the educational experience was successful.

Limitations and challenges: It explains the aspects that impinged on the results.

Conclusion: The final reflections of the experience and its achievements.

References: In-text citations and references must use APA.

4. The conference: This is usually a written form from a spoken publication. This paper does not have a rigid structure and may not have all the parts o f the article, but I does need all the information data from the author as well as the information of the dissertation: name of congress, institution where it took place, country and date.

5. Length: articles, reports, experiences and papers should have a length between 10 and 25 letter-sized pages, including figures, footnotes and bibliography. The reviews a maximum of two pages.

6. Format:
Paper: letter size.
Margins: 2.8 cm per side.
Double space.
Font: Times New Roman # 12.
Distinct titles and subtitles, with bold numerals or preference.
Written allowed illustrations, diagrams, charts and graphs to be delivered in separate in a format that is editable files.
Do not number the pages.
Correlative feet page. They must appear on the same page where the reference is made.

7. Copies: These academic papers must be submitted in original, plus an electronic version in Word format. The figures, pictures and graphics must be submitted in separate files properly listed and identified in gif or jpg format with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi., Marking the place in the text to be inserted.

8. Delivery date: These academic papers must be delivered to the director of the Dia-logos Magazine or dates previously agreed. They will be returned with observations of the Editorial Board two weeks after received. The authors will have one week to submit the revised version of its articles. If the revised version still has substantive comments will be considered a new revision or not to publish the article.

9. Academic papers submitted must be original.

10. The Editorial Board reserves the right to accept academic writings that do not meet these guidelines.
