In this paper the author develops a critical analysis on how different pedagogies along history have shaped different models of man. He also brings out how the current dominant pedagogy models, from the western heritage, the capitalist economic model and an enterprise-based vision, an individualist and competitive man, shaped through a Eurocentric, authoritarian, rational and fragmented pedagogy. Then he proposes that in order to surpass this dominant pedagogy, it is necessary to resort to alternative pedagogies, even though peripheral, are contextual-based, life-articulated and focused in diverse forms or rationalities.
