Abstract

This paper pinpoints the principal concepts of reading comprehension, its importance in the university curriculum as well as the main strategies to be considered in the design of a curriculum that meets the needs and claims of education of society. But at  the same time, it brings out the prominent position that reading comprehension should have in the education of professional able to read and perceive, analyze, synthesize, discern, compare and summarize in a creative an critical way.
