The author presents an overview of the social trends of modern culture, and its influence upon the world of pedagogy. He argues about the necessity of reorienting the pedagogic focus towards a clear choice for the defense of life, and offers three concrete ways through which pedagogy can move to such direction. The first one is called "Solidarity as Pedagogy", and follows the ideas of John Dewey's and his "Learning Service". The second is Prosocially-Oriented Education, a system developed by Roberto Rocher for the Ministry of Education of Cataluña, in Spain. The third and last is the "Pedagogy of Reciprocity", a view in which the solidarity and pro-social values evolve towards a stage of "triadic interdependence" or creative reciprocity.
