Abstract

This paper approaches the mediatic education. Such topic, which has not been studied in El Salvador, is analyzed under the perspective suggested by UNESCO; that is, an education that develops critical, selective and creative competences toward the information and communication media. Thus, the analysis encompasses the historical background, the conceptual and theoretical frameworks. Besides, it brings out the need to have more involvement of teachers in the challenging world of TIC, not just as users but as trainer of active agents to promote changes in the creative and responsible use of media.
