Abstract

This paper shows the results of a research about intercultural education with freshmen students at the Enterprise computing major who, at this beginning level, need to adjust to the university life and who show high ratios of dropouts. The research was carried out at Universidad de Costa Rica, western campus and Tacares branch. The research method is based on the socio-critical paradigm and employs the participant observation as the main method to collect the information. The findings of the research show that the major Enterprise computing has, in general, inclusive pedagogical processes and, also that it is necessary to rethink, as an academic option, to solve some drawbacks and pitfalls observed and move toward a real intercultural education.
