Abstract

In Honduras, by 2019, women represent 51.7% of the total population, despite some progress made to reduce inequality, there are still great challenges to face the inequality gap in the labor market. The world economic forum emphasizes four important pillars to make an analysis of the global index of gender gaps, for the development of this research three have been considered: economic participation, educational achievement and political empowerment. The research takes a quantitative, non-experimental design approach. The data are observed in a comparative way by gender, using the database of the Permanent Survey of Multiple-Purpose Households (EPHPM) and data from the National Gender Observatory (ONAG), to analyze the wage gap, an analysis of income by monthly work of women with respect to men considering the educational level of both, the figures show and quantify the wage discrimination faced by women, even when they are the same age, academic preparation and equal working conditions are always at a clear disadvantage . Women have a disproportionate burden of unpaid care work, which limits them from participating in public life, while depriving economies of their talents and contributions.
