Abstract

The historical and structural challenges of the Honduran educational system have accumulated a debt with deficiencies in the skills necessary for the development of the country, accompanied by an insufficient level of coverage to cover the first and third cycles of compulsory education. The objective of this article is to demonstrate the results of public education in Honduras, in terms of coverage levels or enrollment rates in the beginning stages of basic education, as well as the evolution of quality learning in the Spanish and Mathematics areas, on a sample of basic education centers with a level of Departmental and Municipal representativeness. Also including educational quality measured, to illustrate the performance of Honduran students on international standardized tests. The low provision of quality educational services, reveals an important challenge for the public education system in Honduras, in reference to the main product that delivers to the society: students with only minimal knowledge of the evaluated subjects.
