Abstract

This research presents an analytical study that is derived from the contrast between the different elements and characteristics that make up the business ecosystem of SMEs in Western Honduras, organizations whose particularities differ significantly from the generally accepted theoretical principles, despite the fact that there are unfavorable factors, these companies manage to develop resilience. The framework in which organizations classified as small and medium-sized companies operate is complex compared to large companies; However, certain entrepreneurs manage to overcome these differences thanks to an idiosyncrasy that is based on dedication and perseverance.

The situational analysis of this scientific problem has been obtained through the application of a semi-structured questionnaire divided into three sections; the structure of the business ecosystem, the characterization of the entrepreneurs who give life to the SMEs under study and the development of resilience of these organizations. In this sense, it also identifies the main characteristics of survival and great adaptability of SMEs, in their environment, describing how a resilient company can be comparable to a lotus flower, which grow slowly, but with determination, even and in the middle of a mud full of crisis and hostility.
