Diagnosis of the entrepreneurship ecosystem, a view from academia: Centro Regional Universitario del Centro (CURC), Honduras

Abstract

This study provides an overview of the entrepreneurial ecosystem of the Comayagua valley region, offering a perspective of the organizations and companies that comprise it.

The Primary information was obtained through an interview with the various actors: Support Industry, Public, Educational, Financial and Private Sector. In addition, bibliographic information from different sources was compiled, with the purpose of establishing the relationships between the Institutions, analysis of their operation and the results obtained, whether of an individual or regional nature.

The economic profile of the region allows to contextualize the environment that surrounds the entrepreneurship ecosystem, since the Department of Comayagua has become a pole of development, increasing trades, the industry, tourist services in its majority and the agricultural production of coffee, guava and oriental vegetables.

The National Entrepreneurship Strategy in Honduras arises from the guidelines provided by the Sistema para la Integración Centroamericana (SICA), establishing objectives, axes and lines of action.

Finally, the Cámara de Comercio de Comayagua, Centro de Desarrollo Empresarial Valles de Comayagua, Alcaldía Municipal de Comayagua, Centro Nacional de Educación para el Trabajo, Centro Universitario Regional del Centro, various financial institutions and international organizations are identified as the main actors of the region's ecosystem; determining the need to work in synergy to boost the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
