Analysis of the entrepreneurial ecosystem at the Higher Technological Institute of Tela - UNAH

Abstract

This study focuses on analyzing the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the municipalities of Tela, Arizona, and Esparta, in the Department of Atlántida, Honduras, with special emphasis on the Instituto Superior Tecnologico de Tela (ITS) of the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Honduras (UNAH). Using the Balson College 2010 model, it was determined that the ecosystem is at an intermediate stage, operating at a level of 50%. Despite the consolidation, critical areas that require strengthening were identified, such as the training of professionals focused on entrepreneurship, the promotion of high-potential ventures and the promotion of alliances with the software and biotechnology sectors. It highlights the importance of a company culture based on tolerance, ethical practices, honesty, acceptance of failure, risk-taking and innovative thinking. Additionally, the importance of implementing municipal policies to encourage entrepreneurial projects is recognized. The study underlines that ITS TELA UNAH, as a driving force in academia, should focus on providing high-quality education, social engagement and applied scientific research projects. Despite challenges, such as a lack of awareness about laws related to entrepreneurship, the study identifies the potential to revitalize local economies in municipalities. In conclusion, the study highlights the importance of the National Entrepreneurship Strategy to stimulate business development within the ITS Tela - UNAH ecosystem. The study offers a rigorous approach and practical proposals to foster a solid entrepreneurial ecosystem, facilitating the growth and sustainability of entrepreneurship in the region.
