Gaps and professional development opportunities for youth in the municipalities of San Pedro Sula and Choloma, Honduras

Abstract

The general objective of this document is to analyze the capacity of opportunities for professional development that various economic sectors have in the cities of San Pedro Sula and Choloma in Honduras, in order to thereby identify the gaps and opportunities for young people, with the purpose of anticipating and align the institutional capacity of training centers for the future.

The analysis is carried out based on the data obtained in the study "Prospective Analysis of the Labor Market in strategic economic sectors in the city of San Pedro Sula and Choloma", carried out in 2021 by the Institute of Economic and Social Research (IIES) of the UNAH in conjunction with INFOP and USAID through its “Employing Futures” program.

The research work is of a qualitative nature and with a descriptive approach, where the information was provided through a questionnaire to different organizations with a simple random sampling type design, with a scope in the municipalities of San Pedro Sula and Choloma, where the study has a cross-sectional qualitative analysis.

With the qualitative research design, it focuses on the descriptive of the bibliographic review and the primary source, which is the study carried out by the IIES, with which documented information is presented throughout the analysis and research process.
