Abstract

Globalization has boosted the trade and consumption of goods and services from companies that have contributed to that responsible for regulating the activities of banking institutions news agencies to establish mechanisms for the general population of their rights and duties in hiring financial services and products and the development of skills for resource management, therefore the aim of the research is determine the level of knowledge about financial education of the economically active youth population that is working in call centers in the city San Pedro Sula.

The methodology used was a quantitative approach, descriptive exploratory scope, and no experimental cross-sectional design. The target population were young people aged 18-29 years, indistinct gender work in call centers. From a population of 6,100 young people, a random probability sampling, resulting in 408 instruments it is used.

The results show that 68% of respondents did not know that different banks have available to their users of financial education portal; it was observed that 22% of respondents have no savings habit. Regarding luxury consumption 43 % of young people bought weekly, biweekly and monthly goods such as clothing and accessories, electronic materials, streamlining formal and informal trade economic sector which contributes to 63% of respondents are indebted for personal satisfaction, responsibilities at home and academic commitments, 70% of those surveyed his undergraduate study.
