Abstract

This study is a systematic analysis of scientific articles in the field of Ethical Leadership, Positive Leadership, dominant definitions, background of ethical conduct, thematic trends such as work engagement and its measurement, as a theoretical foundation that contributes to the development, strengthening and promotion of ethical conduct in each of the processes of business management. The analysis of a corpus of articles published in high impact journals is described, offering an analysis of the subject that allows a greater understanding of the changes it has undergone over time. The results show the advances in the field of Ethical Leadership and gaps for research. The article seeks to contribute to the eighth Sustainable Development Goal (SDG), that is, to the study of the phenomenon of Ethical Leadership and its development to strengthen the topic so that scholars and organizational leaders can contribute to economic growth, wellbeing and organizational sustainability. For future research it is suggested to consider the background of the ethical behavior of ethical leaders for its development, as well as concrete effects produced by their influence as a mediator related to different work performance behaviors.
