Virtualization of the Construction Materials subject in the training process of the Civil Engineer at the University of Holguin, Cuba

Improving the training process of the Civil Engineer to enable him to undertake the construction of the activities involved in the construction of works or elements of work, is an essential element, considering the rapid growth of this important sector. Therefore, the future graduate should know the raw materials, materials and products involved in any work execution, taking as a starting point the approaches of the Science of Materials, in such a way that it achieves a linkage of what has been learned with the academic, labor and research components, at a truly professional scale, from the interrelation of the life cycle of materials, buildings and environmental requirements of the investment process of construction to provide solutions to the professional problems that are manifested in the diversity of spheres of action. For this purpose, the file of the Construction Materials subject of the Civil Engineering career at the University of Holguin is improved to allow the integrated appropriation of the contents and the development of the skills stated in the Professional's Model. In its development, theoretical and empirical research methods are applied, from a professional and interdisciplinary didactic approach based on the principles of Professional Pedagogy and on the relation instruction-education-professional growth. From an analysis of the curricular process in the teaching of the subject, the foundations and specific structures, its didactic requirements, the essential aspects of the methodological work and the formative potentialities of the virtual teaching-learning environment are shown, so that the future graduate acquires a solid integral general training related to construction materials, which represents a step forward in the informatization of the educational system that contributes positively to the professional teaching-learning process.
