Distance education using Information and Communication Technologies is an alternative for the continuous training of the agricultural extensionist due to the fact that in times of contingencies it is a necessity given the role he/she must play in the achievement of the National Plan for Food Sovereignty and Nutritional Education. In our country, special attention has been paid to the achievement of sustainable development in an environment of deep socioeconomic, environmental and other changes; however, there are deficiencies in professional competences that limit their competent professional performance, to efficiently extend knowledge, experiences, technologies and results, both from science centers and producers. The objective of this research is the elaboration of a strategy to favor the development of professional competencies in agricultural extensionists using distance education.
