Abstract

This article evaluates the working conditions associated with occupational risks of the administrative workers of the Regional Multidisciplinary Faculty of Matagalpa, during the I Semester 2022. A descriptive study with a quantitative and cross-sectional approach was developed. The study area was the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Nicaragua, UNAN Managua - Regional Multidisciplinary Faculty of Matagalpa in the city of Matagalpa. The sample consisted of 45 administrative workers. A survey was applied and direct observation was carried out through a checklist. The data were processed in the statistical program EPI Info and Microsoft Excel, applying analysis, frequencies and percentages, where tables and graphs were made to achieve triangulation of the information. The main results show that most of the workers are in an optimal age range for work performance, with predominance of male gender and university academic level, having a significant work seniority, this suggests a great potential to implement occupational safety and health practices effectively. Although working conditions are generally adequate, areas for improvement were identified, such as optimizing the availability and adequacy of personal protective equipment. In addition, the importance of improving ergonomics in certain areas to reduce musculoskeletal risks in the future, the lack of first aid kits, and the presence of fire-related hazards were highlighted. It is crucial to address these deficiencies and comply with regulations such as Law 618 to promote a safe and efficient work environment. The study highlights the importance of continuous training and the development of a strong organizational culture in occupational health and safety.
