This article addresses issues related to the evaluation of the professional training of students studying Civil Engineering at the University of Holguín, Cuba. The objective of this study is to propose a system of dimensions, indicators, and rating scales for evaluating the professional training of students studying Civil Engineering at the University of Holguín from a competency-based approach. The research conducted is quantitative-experimental in design and, as a variant of this approach, employs a pedagogical pre-experiment, statistically supported by the sign test with a 95% confidence level. To collect information, the researchers used document review and scientific observation techniques, as well as triangulation of sources. The sample selected for the study was purposive and included the entire population, consisting of 25 Civil Engineering students from the 2024–2025 academic year. The main results obtained show that the application of the system of dimensions, indicators, and rating scales improved the level of mastery demonstrated by students regarding the comprehensiveness of their professional training. It is concluded that the evaluation conducted using the proposed system made it possible to verify the level of comprehensive professional training achieved by Civil Engineering students at the University of Holguín, Cuba.
