Abstract

Changes in the contemporary global production landscape present new challenges for education, requiring close collaboration with productive entities and other economic actors to foster vocational training within the educational context. In this regard, the study examines the nature of this process based on an analysis of various definitions found in scientific literature, as well as the categories, laws, principles, and dimensions that constitute its conceptual foundation across different disciplines. Consequently, its objective is to provide a theoretical foundation for the vocational training process of students in the Multipurpose Gardening Workshop at the Trade School. The research was conducted using a qualitative approach, through a literature review, employing theoretical methods such as analysis-synthesis, induction-deduction, and the analysis of specialized scientific sources. The main results focus on the critical evaluation of the different definitions of the vocational training process and the theoretical foundations that support it from the perspectives of philosophy, sociology, psychology, pedagogy, and didactics. The combination of the different research methods and the results obtained allow us to conclude that the student’s vocational training identifies the fundamental characteristics that define it, is based on different sciences, and guides the conception of this process from a theoretical perspective.
