The archaeological site Cinacantan. First indigenous uprising in Cuscatlán
Keywords:
Cinacantan, El Salvador, Levantamiento indígena, CuscatlánAbstract
Cinacantan is one of the most important and representative in El Salvador historic archaeological sites. Its significance lies not only happened here in one of the best documented battles between Spaniards and natives in our territory, but also that this event can be considered as the first indigenous uprising in Cuscatlán. The exact place where the battle took place was forgotten and remained unknown to researchers until it was identified in 1999 on a rock on the Balsam Mountains, municipality of Tamanique. As stated by Lardé and Larin (2000), the exact location of the ancient town and fortress Cinacantan is vitally interested in historical reconstruction and the origins of Salvadoran nationality.Abstract
