Abstract

The steamship traffic in the Pacific Ocean between 1850 and early 1900s was a huge historical phenomenon in America and marks the golden age in navigation driven with this type of combustion machines. During this period a complex system of transportation and communication that united the continents and constantly timestamps broke into marine travel and cargo capacity was established. This nautical phenomenon was vital for industrial and economic development of many countries in the Americas. The large number of products being transported by these ships including indigo and coffee generated revenue for the development of countries with ports on the Pacific Ocean possible. Transporting thousands of passengers with different professions and specialties or simple adventurers seeking a better life also led to the transfer of knowledge to the technological impulse of many American nations.
