Abstract

The purpose of the title UTEC’S Community Service. An opportunity for the teaching and learning of professional competencies in the Anthropology Majoris to offer a perspective of the experience developed during the last five years of the Anthropology Major. In doing so, research processes under the methodological approach of “Action Research” take place; this allows for faculty, students, direct and indirect community beneficiaries to relate. They get to integrate a tridimensional system which permits them to provide practical answers to all those needs, both objective and subjective, in the sociocultural environment of the towns. This also allows for contributions from the students ́ competencies in the development and creation of tools and instruments for data collection, search of key informants, the registry and processing of the collected data, the publishing of results by means of catalogues, collections of samples, and/or monographs. All of this therefore promotes awareness and empowerment processes in the hands of those who are benefitted, among other products which significantly make it viable to provide a face to local identities that, at the same time, strengthen the collective national imaginary and identity of all those cultural manifestations that identify specific municipalities where said processes have been promoted. Finally, this work mentions the social responsibility strategy that this Higher Education Institution (IES, given its Spanish acronym), deploys in order to reach the objectives that each school proposes for the different impact projects at the social level, thus bringing to light the commitment to shape critical individuals who will transform their reality.
