Abstract

Mandibular tori and exostoses are benign bony enlargements that do not produce symptoms. Rather than pathological conditions, these structures are considered normal anatomical variations consisting of a limited amount of bone marrow and a dense cortex, covered by a thin, poorly vascularized mucosa that tends to grow slowly and progressively. They are generally found opposite the premolars above the mylohyoid attachment. Treatment is usually not necessary, except in cases of prosthetic needs, functional problems, food retention, speech disorders, etc. The etiology remains unknown.
