In our country, Stroke represents a serious situation, it’s found in 3.6 and 5.7 per 1,000 inhabitants of rural and urban communities, respectively. Objective: To know the evolution of patients with Acute Ischemic Stroke according to epidemiological and clinical data making use of Modified Rankin Scale and NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) in patients attended in the Emergency room of Internal Medicine from Hospital Mario Catarino Rivas from march 2019 to march 2020. Methodology: A non-experimental design study, quantitative focus, descriptive-correlational scope, longitudinal research.
Universe of 86 patients, and sample of 68 patients with Acute Ischemic Stroke. We asked the family of the patient for permission to evaluate the patient and for the collection of data. 90 days after a Second Evaluation was made by phone. Results: Women and seniors were the most affected. 85.29% (58) of the patients had Arterial Hypertension, 39.71% (27)Mellitus Diabetes, 29.41% (20) aprevious Stroke. 38 (55.88%) patients died, and 15 (22.06%) had disability 90 days after the beginning of the disease. Patients with NIHSS score greater than or equal 16 have more relative risk (R.R.) of death (R.R.: 1.91) and disability (R.R.: 2.74) than patients with NIHSS score under 16. Conclusions: The more severe the Neurological Deficit at the beginning of thedisease the greater the probability of Death or having a severe level of disability is.
