Sociodemographic Characteristics and Refusal of COVID 19 Vaccine, of Pregnant Women Red Gualcince, San Andrés, Lempira, Honduras

It is considered that the use of vaccines decreased the number of COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations and deaths due to complications from the disease; despite the benefits, it was found that low educational level, religious and cultural beliefs influence pregnant women to reject the vaccine.Objective: To analyze the causes of rejection of
vaccination against COVID-19, in pregnant women who attend the Comprehensive Health Centers (CIS) San Andrés and CIS Gualcinse of the Health Network of the Gualcinse and San Andrés municipality, in the department of Lempira, in the months of August 2021 to November 2022. Patients and Methods: mixed study with quantitative, sequential explanatory domain. Sample: non-probabilistic 50 pregnant women. Interview technique. Instrument: questionnaire type. Results: 42% (21) were 24-32 years old, 32% (16) 15-23. Incomplete primary school 54% (27). Housewives 94% (47), 56% (28) were evangelical, 42% (21) Catholic. 68% (34) have two doses, 88% (44) were explained the adverse reactions to the vaccine, 50% (25) rejected the vaccine out of fear, 18% (9) did not want to be vaccinated, 16% (8) They do not consider the vaccine important. 50% (25) presented fever, muscle pain and nasal congestion. The majority of those interviewed stated that they did not get vaccinated out of fear. Conclusion: the main cause of refusal of vaccination against COVID-19 in pregnant women was due to fear, increasing the number of infections and complications in pregnancy.
