Abstract

The anatomical variants of renal development are congenital anomalies in the number, position, shape and orientation of the kidneys, including the extrarenal pelvis, also called extrasinusal pelvis. In this case the pelvis protrudes outside the renal sinus, so it is not compressed by it, and the pelvis can be visualized outside the kidney. It is not accompanied by calyceal or ureteral dilation. A differential diagnosis must be made with hydronephrosis.
