Abstract

The quality of life and prognosis of patients with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection has greatly improved since the introduction of highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART). However, numerous adverse effects and limitations in terms of tolerability have been described as a result of the chronic use of these, this is undoubtedly one of the greatest challenges and concerns for the health professional responsible for the care of these patients. . Lipomastia (pseudoginecomastia), an enlargement of the chest due to central adiposity, may occur as part of a fat redistribution syndrome that has been associated with HAART regimens.
