Child abuse among schoolchildren in fifth and sixth grade

Child abuse is defined as the abuse and neglect that are under the age 18, and includes all types of physical or psychological abuse. Objective: To describe the types of abuse in the school and family environment of children in fifth and sixth grade. Methodology: The study had transeccional,narrative design, done at school Guillermo Velez Prieto Community of Los Pinos, San Pedro Sula, in the period from February to March 2014. The universe / sample was 54 students in fifth and sixth degree and 25 parents who were in their houses when gathering information. The data collection technique was using survey and inter- view for quantitative variables for qualitative information. Results: Regarding domestic abuse by neglect, 14 children (25.9%) do not eat breakfast before going to school, and 20 (37%) do not consume snack. 45 (83%) of children do not consume the right amount of water daily, 11 children (20%) did not receive from their parents the time. It was found that 23 (42.6%) of children were abused by their peers; shock (43.5%), nick names (21.5%). School, narrated that they are punished by their mothers, grandmother and stepfather, by belt, scolding, slapping and others; parents reported that punished with sash and scolding. Conclusion: We found that most children receive domestic and school bullying, being more common physical and emotional.
