Abstract

Opportunistic diseases are those that usually occur as a consequence of severe immunosuppression in patients with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. The level of immunodepression, especially with CD4 lymphocytes <200 cells / ml, is the main risk factor.
The National Hospital Mario Catarino Rivas is the center with the largest cohort of HIV patients receiving medical attention, the clinician day by day faces not only the management of HIV infection itself, but also the management of other aspects of the same; One of the most frequent are opportunistic infections.
