The frequency of acute appendicitis due to parasites is rare and ranges from 1.5 to 27.2% in endemic areas. Of these cases, the incidence of Ascaris lumbricoides is 17 to 26%. The infestation is usually asymptomatic and the symptoms may develop when an adult parasite obstructs the light or when the egg produces secondary hyperplasia of the lymph nodes.
