In Latin America, development has been promoted from different theoretical perspectives focused on economic growth. With sustainable development, in addition to the economic dimension, social and environmental dimensions were incorporated with the purpose of achieving people's well-being. We have not yet achieved the desired results. In practice, the human being has not truly been placed at the center as an end, resulting in the persistence of poverty, social inequality and deterioration of the environment, which distances people and peoples from the common good.
In this sense, the reflections presented in this paper seek the answer to the question, what development paradigms could be more appropriate to promote the common good? For which we worked under the qualitative approach and hermeneutic methodology, including a compilation of various research articles on the subject of development theories (with identity) and the common good. This work seeks to be useful for the university community and communities of development practices, especially involved in the processes of linking and intercultural community accompaniment.
