This study has addressed the Regional Autonomy as transversal axis in the curricula of the careers of Sociology, Business Administration and Animal Science, that are taught at the University of the Autonomous Regions of the Caribbean Coast of Nicaragua, URACCAN, Nueva Guinea. The purpose was to analyze the role played by the University as an important agent of socialization in the life of the population of the region.
To study this issue has allowed to know how appropriate are the teachers and students about the Regional Autonomy, since being established as a transversal axis, beside been reflected in the curriculum, it should become an innovative practice. The focus was qualitative, the population and sample were selected by convenience. Information was gathered through interviews, focus groups and documentary observation guide.
The results reflected the changes in knowledge and appropriation that the students and teachers have in relation to the Regional Autonomy. It was determined that not all the curricula of the careers imparted by URACCAN have contents and objectives related to the Regional Autonomy, although most are layout as educational objectives.
