The metaphors of racism: notes on Bolivian positivism

The following paper analyzes a chapter of Alcides Argueta's Pueblo enfermo, titled "Psychology of the Indigenous race". This research highlights the continuities and disruptions in the Bolivian positivism with other elements of the ideologies of the sub-continental elites. In this contex, this paper seeks an interpretation of the role played by the metaphors of the Arguedian positivism, as a part of the legitimation of the racial oppression in Bolivia.
