About the Journal

Focus and Scope

Realidad, Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities is a biannual academic publication that seeks to contribute to the research and theoretical reflection on social reality, with special interest in what pertains to El Salvador and the Central American area. Publishes original unpublished articles (unless, for special reasons, otherwise indicated) of national and foreign authors and other materials of interest in the following areas: Social Sciences (Economics, Sociology, Psychology, Communication Sciences, Sciences of the Education, Urbanism), Humanities (Philosophy, Literary and Artistic Studies, History)

The contributions will be submitted to the opinion of evaluation by pairs in double blind modality and will resort to two specialists in the corresponding subject at least. The arbitrated sections are Essays and Dossier; Other unarbitrated sections of the journal include Reflections, Reviews, Documents and interviews.

This publication is aimed at researchers, teachers, professionals, students and society in general.

Peer Review Process

Rules of the arbitration process of Realidad, Revista de Ciencias Sociales y Humanidades.

1. To be published in Realidad, any article proposed to the sections Articles, Essays and Thematic Dossier will be submitted to a selection phase and to a process of opinion of external evaluators in double blind mode. In the first phase, the Editorial Committee will select the articles that correspond to the thematic areas dealt with in the journal and that meet the indispensable academic requirements of a scientific article. The director will notify the authors if their article has been sent for an opinion or if it has been rejected at this stage.

2. Contributions will be submitted to the external evaluation opinion of two specialists in the corresponding subject. If there is a contradiction between the two opinions, a third evaluation will be considered as definitive. The judgment process will be secret. Once the referees' assessments have been issued, the authors will be sent the opinion report, and they will have a period of no more than one month to deliver the final version of the article with the pertinent corrections. The Editorial Committee of the journal will verify the final version based on the opinions and will inform the authors in what number of the journal their work will be published. Accepted collaborations will be subject to style correction and their publication will be subject to the availability of space in each number.

3. The sending of any collaboration to the journal implies not only the acceptance of what is established in these editorial rules, but the authorization to the Editorial Committee of Realidad, Revista de Ciencias Sociales y Humanidades for the inclusion of the work in its electronic page, reprints, collections and any other means that is decided to achieve greater and better dissemination of it.

Realidad: Revista de Ciencias Sociales y Humanidades, provides open and immediate access to its content, based on the Open Access Policy of the Central American University "José Simeón Cañas"

The BOAI statement describes: "By" Open Access "to this literature, we mean its free availability on the public Internet, allowing any user to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search or use them for any legal purpose, without any financial barrier , legal or technical, outside those that are inseparable from those that involve accessing the Internet itself. The only limitation in terms of reproduction and distribution and the sole role of copyright in this domain, should be to give authors control over the integrity of their works and the right to be properly recognized and cited.
