Abstract

In educational research on the educational situation of El Salvador, the phenomenon of violence has increased signifcantly within public schools. There has been a lack of recognition of how thin affects both the students (which is addressed in very few studies) and the teaching community.

The following essay researches how personal, interpersonal, didactic and institutional dimensions of teaching practice got affected; and the strategies adopted to stay resilient against the impact of the types of violence indicated, as well. In contradiction with this reality, from the cognitive point of view, teachers fail to establish a clear conceptualization of this phenomenon, which has been interpreted as an indication of lack of formal refection and institutional problematization on the subject.
