This article discusses whether expressions of art such as La Fragua, a Jesuit theater in Honduras, can be inserted into sociology as a general communication system proposed by Niklas Luhmann; especially with regard to their different understanding of conflict and violence and its function as negative communication. In this direction, supported by the concept of Generalized Symbolic Media, a central piece of Luhmann’s theoretical architecture, this paper attempts an interpretation of Teatro La Fragua, of the expectations of its artistic proposal in the context of violence in Honduras, whose lethality spiral increased after the coup that occurred in 2009.
