Abstract

The concept of "counterculture", en vogue during the sixties, is quite inexact. In that sense, the use of the term "contestatary cultures" in opposition to the "dominant cultures" is more adequate. The relation of a cultural practice with its milieu is the criteria that allows to elucidate if it is dominant, subcultural, or countercultural.
