Determinants of Rural poverty in Ecuador 2007-2014: an estimate of Probit models

This paper analyzes poverty as a phenomenon affecting, to a greater extent, to rural communities in Ecuador. In this sense, the current development plan, National Plan for Good Living, has as one of strategic objectives the reduction of poverty and inequality in the rural sector, through a strategy of inclusive development. the evolution of the incidence rates of income poverty in the period 2007-2014 is presented. In addition, indicators that expose the problems of the rural sector in terms of poverty, income, education, and employment are presented; and the barriers they face in achieving development. Finally a probabilistic model that allows us to demonstrate how some individuals are key factors in determining poverty of households is estimatedDownloads
