School garden as a self-sustainable component of school snacks in Nutritional Food Security and its use as a pedagogical tool

The present study describes and explains the operation of the school garden, its production and connection with food and nutritional security; and its use as a pedagogical tool in the teaching-learning process with primary school students in the Rubén Darío educational center, municipality of Santa Teresa, department of Carazo, 2019. The research was carried out through a case study, it was applied Data collection instrument, with interview and was supported by the observation technique, where it was not limited to the sense of sight. The use of the garden was evaluated in the different elementary subjects and their food production as a complement to the school snack, under the approach of food and nutritional security. The results indicate that the production of the garden has facilitated the availability to the food, the access to them, the consumption of the harvested with the products of the school snack and the use of the nutrients, the harvest is consumed in the school center with the food delivered by the PINE for the school snack. Agronomic management is carried out under the agroecological line, which practices the integral management of crops, fertilization and fertilization is carried out with biological products avoiding the use of chemicals. 100% of primary school teachers use the school garden as a pedagogical tool in the different subjects, where students apply theory with practice in the area of the garden.
